CWRU researchers land $47.7 million federal contract to develop replacement joint tech

Ozan Akkus, the lead researcher on this new project and a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Case School of Engineering, and Michael Oakes, senior vice president for research and technology management, said that the project aims “to address the failures and limitations of current treatments by developing a safe and effective living joint that lasts a lifetime in the patient’s body.”
